c.1959 Yoshiya Chief Robotman In Original Box
Classic battery operated Chief Robotman by Yoshiya in *near mint condition complete with original box. Works great! Predominately tin litho with plastic chest plate, eyes, and head lamp it has a cream colored face, dark silver-gray body, and burgundy red arms, side skirts and head plates. Mouth, nose, antennae and ears are polished tin. Actions include whirring antennae, rotating head, swinging arms, flashing lights, and stop and go movement. Also emits a loud buzzing sound whenever the head turns and lights flash. The original box features a fantastic illustration of the Robotman in action. The specific actions are indicated as well as the toy name and manufacturers trademark. The aprons have similar text and a smaller illustration. Size: 12" Date Sold: Jan. 2010 *I originally purchased the toy by absentee bid from a large, well known, antique toy auction house in Maine in "near mint" condition. Upon receipt I noticed that the base plate was scratched, scuffed, and that the tabs had been bent. This was not mentioned in their catalog description, nor by telephone discussion. Despite meeting all prerequisites for their "no questions return policy" they refused any refund. Unlike the auction house I indicated its precise condition. Buyer Beware!
